Ron Salzmann founded what is now Palmetto back in the 1970s after moving to the Barossa Valley from New York. Finding a home in the arid northern region of the Barossa Valley, Salzmann’s vision of a vinous oasis became an obsession throughout his later life before his untimely demise in 1999.

The Palmetto brand was resurrected by a group of young entrepreneurs.

What we love:

These are classic, easy-drinking wines that celebrate South Australia’s great mothership, the Barossa Valley. They’re small batch, minimal intervention wines but they have broad appeal.

Summer day sunshine-in-a-bottle Sauvignon Blanc, fireside blackberry-spice-and-all-things-nice shiraz, Chrissy ham sparkling red. Delicious wines for thirsty days
